SIS Inspections, formerly known as Socotec, was established in 1992, as a response to the massive regional drought in Southern Africa. This devastating drought required in excess of 8 million tonnes of food commodities and associated products to be imported and distributed in the region under very difficult circumstances.
From this agricultural base, SIS Inspections, driven by a desire to ensure quality, reliability, integrity and preparedness in the industry, grew organically and expanded its range of professional services to accommodate rising demand from a wider range of industries and a more diverse client base.
Over the past 2 decades, SIS has delivered the same broad range of inspection services, met the high standards of quality and excellence as expected in the rest of the world, and as such has been at the forefront of innovative service provision in the region.
Our client base is international and diverse and includes, Governments, Trading companies, finance institutions, Oil marketing companies, transporters, importers and exporters and the NGO and donor community.
The SIS Inspections Group employs approximately 500 people across 20 countries in Southern and Eastern Africa.
